I have always been fascinated by mysterious and slightly scary things such as monsters and ghosts. This work is the result of my collection of monster legends from all over the world, including Nordic trolls, Greek hydras, Egyptian gods, Chinese spirits... I painted them into portraits, framed them and hung them to form my "Monster Wall". I don’t really like bright colors, so I use dark and muddy colors as the main tone, paired with gorgeous and complicated frames, to create an ancient medieval atmosphere. Monsters are no longer just legendary entities, but are displayed, gazed at, and re-recognized like historical figures. This is my unique monster art gallery, and it also reflects my love and imagination for monster culture. —宋浩, age 10.
